Annual gynecologic exams

Seeing a gynecologic provider each year beginning with the onset of puberty is an important part of your ongoing health. These appointments give your provider an opportunity to identify potential health concerns and to treat them when necessary. It also gives you a chance to get to know your provider and to address any concerns you have. You will also have a chance to ask questions and to discuss birth control options.

A typical annual gynecologic exam includes:

• Checks of height, weight and blood pressure.
• Urinalysis and blood work.
• A pap test when recommended to detect the signs of cervical cancer.
• A breast exam.
• A pelvic exam.
• Time to discuss birth control options or other concerns.

Annual gynecologic exams are covered by Medicaid and most private insurance. If you have not had an annual gynecologic exam in more than a year, call our office to schedule yours today.
